Butterflies are known to be a representation of change and growth. The metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly is integral to the insect's life cycle. A chrysalis protects a caterpillar as it reforms itself into a beautiful butterfly. In "Metamorphosis", the chrysalis appears to be opaque and lifeless. However, the moment the light is turned on, the life of a newly formed butterfly is revealed. Despite it not being visible, there is change occurring in this seemingly still chrysalis. Change may not be visible to the human eye, but all humans grow and change with the experiences they have in life. Learning from our experiences is a never-ending cycle. The change in the butterfly's life can be related to our own, where, as we get older, we develop and grow into something beautiful.
