We all experience a variety of emotions such as joy, sadness, fear, and anger. These emotions play an important role in our daily lives and can be understood through the concept of 'primordial emotions'. Primordial emotions refer to the essential and fundamental emotions of human beings, representing the basic responses we have as living beings interacting with the world. Understanding primordial emotions is important for several reasons. Firstly, these emotions determine how we perceive and interpret the world. For example, the fear felt when faced with a threat prompts immediate action. Secondly, primordial emotions play a crucial role in social interactions. To form and maintain relationships with others, it is necessary to understand and predict other people's moods and reactions. The primordial emotions include enjoyment, sadness, surprise, disgust, anger, and fear. Enjoyment is the response to positive experiences, generally representing pleasure or satisfaction. It plays a role in promoting social connectivity and interaction, being one of the main objectives we pursue in daily life. This sculpture is designed using soft and elegant curves that symbolize the emotion of joy in a minimalist style. The use of simple yet warm tones conveys happiness and contentment. Sadness is the response to loss or failure, typically expressing sorrow or despair. Sadness helps us recognize problems and seek change, sometimes evoking sympathy and support, thus enhancing social connectivity. This sculpture is designed with downward curves or shapes resembling tears, conveying a sense of melancholy and introspection. The use of calm blues and grays symbolizes the cold and dark aspects of sadness. This minimalist approach subtly captures the essence of sadness, creating a reflective and emotional atmosphere. Surprise is the response to unexpected events, usually indicating confusion or astonishment. It helps us quickly recognize and adapt to environmental changes. This sculpture adopts an extremely simplified approach, using a single prominent shape or line to symbolize the suddenness and unpredictability of surprise. The background is designed to maintain simplicity, allowing full focus on the form of the sculpture and the emotion it intends to convey. Disgust is the response to things that should be rejected, generally indicating revulsion or loathing. Disgust is a protective mechanism that is vital for survival, shielding us from harmful elements. This sculpture enhances the design to fully capture the intensity and repulsion of disgust, using twisted and contorted forms to vividly express the feeling. This more pronounced approach induces an instinctive reaction in the viewer, making the exaggerated form, color, and texture of the sculpture strongly evoke the emotion of disgust. Anger is the response to injustice or aggression, typically showing feelings of rage or hostility. Anger is necessary for self-defense and the realization of justice, and sometimes serves as a driving force for change and improvement. It focuses on simple forms and lines to convey intensity and agitation, with sharp angles and a dynamic composition to evoke the feeling of anger. Furthermore, the emotion of anger, being highly contagious, is represented by its roots spreading towards the ground. Fear is perhaps the most primitive and primordial emotion. It is a key element in determining how we respond to threats or dangers. A sculpture combining geometric forms and circular elements was designed to express the emotion of fear in a simple and minimalistic manner. This design emphasizes the atmosphere using monochrome and focuses on enhancing the emotional impact through the interaction of light and shadow. These six primordial emotions all originate from a single human being, and people must learn to face and manage these emotions in order to interact with society. Anger, in particular, is a highly contagious emotion, represented by the lines connected to anger wrapping around the person. The understanding of primordial emotions determines how we interact with the world and respond to life, providing deep insights into human nature. Moreover, in social interactions, the ability to empathize - to understand and share the feelings of others - is essential for forming and maintaining relationships. In modern society, the development of digital technology allows for the expression and sharing of emotions through various platforms such as websites and social media. However, there are also many psychological burdens within the current societal structure, such as information overload and digital age stress. Deep contemplation and understanding of 'primordial emotions' can enhance understanding of oneself and others, contributing to a healthier and happier life. Exploring and understanding the complex yet beautiful world of emotions offers an opportunity to better understand oneself and improve relationships with others.
