This bamboo lamp is a meditation on rebirth-taking what is old and giving it new purpose. The strips of bamboo were once cast-aside scraps: remnants of worn-out baskets, mats, or household items that had served their daily use and were destined for the bin. I reclaimed these pieces, sanded them smooth, and wove them into a lantern shape, reviving the traditional craft of bamboo weaving for a modern context. When the light turns on, the old bamboo glows from within, casting delicate, striped shadows across the wall. What was once "useless" now becomes a source of warmth and beauty. Old turn New is not about erasing the past, but honoring it: the marks of time on the bamboo, the texture of its grain, all tell a story of being loved and used. In this new form, those stories are reborn, proving that even what we think is "finished" can still light up the present.
