Inspired by infrastructures of the Bay Area, Bay blends the structural aesthetics of machinery and bridges into a functional lamp. The design draws inspiration from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the Port of Oakland, incorporating elements such as crane-like forms and the latticework seen in the bridge's structure. Growing up, I crossed this bridge often, and those experiences shaped the nostalgic character behind the piece. Acrylic was chosen as the primary material to evoke the look of metal while avoiding its weight. This choice not only makes the lamp physically lighter but also gives the design a visually lighter presence.
