I wanted to work with a mirror box that I created using foam board and mirror sheets. The light installation is inspired by the block glass walls from the 1980s which were usually lit with natural sun light but in my case I reimagined it with led lights, giving me the freedom of controlling its color and intensity. The back wall of the mirror box contains the glass wall. The light is placed behind this wall so that it shines through the grid and also reflects inside the mirrors of the box, creating a visual effect. Because the wall has a grid structure, the reflections within the mirror box multiply the light patterns, producing a layered piece. It's almost as if you were transported to a glass block wall world where you see infinite lights that mix with the color combinations of the lights that pass through the frosted acrylic.
