Moths utilize the moon for navigation, but today's artificial lights appear brighter to them. This causes the moths to confuse these LED and other artificial lights for the moon, circling them endlessly in what is called a "death spiral". This light fixture highlights how the moon, once the guiding light in the dark, is overshadowed by human-made lighting, disrupting the natural life and migration patterns of animals. The endless spiral of the moths represents human's impact on the environment, even when unintended.
