(I)SOLATED is an experience that takes the viewer into an unfamiliar world. The lens I have designed invites the viewer to immerse themselves fully in the experience of being completely isolated from any outside environmental interference. Coming from my own experience as a fighter and commander during my compulsory military service in the Israeli Defence Forces, my piece replicated the horrifying scene of war, explosions, and near death experience. The light is pulsing strongly and directly into the eye of the viewer through the lens in order to create the sense of fear and sense of uncertainty, but at the same time it is also intriguing and somehow beautiful. This is the contrast I have created, between dark and light, fast and slow, repulsive and beautiful. While war is horrible in all aspects: The fear, the unknown, the horrible consequences, but if we can isolate the light from the event, the light can become a beautiful visual spectacle. It is hard to look at but at the same time you can't stop looking.
