Crossing the Himalayas to visit my grandparents, I would spend hours mesmerised by television transmission towers, their heavy wires seeming to dance against the landscape. Today, invisible satellites have rendered these once-futuristic giants obsolete. My work brings these disappearing structures into the modern apartment as a 'visual transmission'. Preserved through the lens of retro-futurism, the design draws from both monumental towers and the smaller, satellite dish-strapped urban structure that work to keep us connected. Constructed from a sleek interplay of plastic and metal, this lighting fixture is designed specifically for those living far from their hometowns. While its materials are industrial, it emits a distinctly warm light, transforming the cold, vanishing infrastructure of the past into a comforting, intimate beacon of home.
