When I consider how light plays a role in cycles, sunlight comes to mind. I see a parallel between circularity and sunlight in that they both have an ethereal and infinite quality. Sunlight is emitted from millions of miles away, and within seconds is absorbed here on our planet in Earth's atmosphere kicking life-sustaining processes into gear. This constant source of transmissible energy from our distant Sun is what keeps our planet alive. Without sunlight there would be no life, there would be no us. "Transmittance" is a deconstructed demonstration of light's trajectory towards our planet. The light begins at the source, moves through space, and is visualized inside the sphere of water. The light passes through and ends as absorbed energy at its final destination. "Transmittance" illustrates the sunlight?s engagement with all terrestrial life cycles here on earth.
